Viva Las Vegas Baby!!!
Still no photos guys, but I enjoy comments!!! I am in the Bright Light City now, and it is truly fabulous! Last night we went out for dinner at an Italian restaurant, followed by a limo ride down the strip, and it was a full on Hummer Limo, how cool is that???!!! it was fantastic, we all drunk champagne in there as we were looking at all the hotels and casinos, Ceasar's Palace, the Bellagio, I even saw the fountains outside there. I do have to admit, I was more than a little drunk, and to be honest, it's 7.35am here now, I got to bed at sometime around 3, and I am quite possibly still slightly intoxicated (but not so much I can't spell intoxicated, I hope!) We are in a hotel here instead of the old tents, which is lovely, although I have grown quite fond of our tents!
We have had the most awesome (there's that word again!) week really, we left Roswell for Santa Fe, which was soooo different to any other part of the US, it's all Puebloan archetechture (that doesn't look right, but I'll continue regardless) and it's really interesting. after that we went to Durango, Colorado and the change in scenery is just unbelievable, one minute you're in the desert with not a hill in sight then you are driving through the Rockies, looking out for bears. It is amazing. it reminded me of Wales, but on a much bigger scale, of course!
The next morning we got up early and walked up a 12500 foot mountain, and it was so hard but well worth it the view from up there was amazing! we have also been to Mesa Verde national park, which is really interesting, and then to Monument Valley, where I had a jeep tour from a Navajo Indian called Curly. You're not allowed to look them in the eye (hardest thing in the world, believe me!) or shake their hand unless they offer it to you (which he did). The way Navajo's live their lives is fascinating, it's so simplistic but they aren't simple people, and I felt like their lives made much more sense than what goes on in other places of the world.
After a horse ride around Mexican Hat Rock, we left Utah for the Grand Canyon, which is the most amazing place, our trek leader led us to the view with our eyes closed, then we all opened our eyes at the same time. Oh My Gosh. it was amazing. Then we hiked the 6.1 mile walk to Plateau point, then the same distance back up the canyon. I was exhausted but so chuffed with myself. It was my everest, honestly!
Gotta go spend some money now!
