Bula!

Well I'm in beautiful Fiji now and have just returned from a 3 day trip to Kuata island, where there was pretty much nothing except for a beach, and rocks and trees.

It was actually really cool, completely cut off from the "real world" and very relaxing. However first I have to write about our stopover on Christmes Island - the coolest place ever! Sadly I couldn't get off the plane but took a couple of photos from the plane and just sat there giggling to myself - the runway is a dodgy old piece of tarmac with potholes in it, and the terminal is a shack, as you can see!

Nadi town itself is quite a scary place, and I've not ventured out there! the people are very friendly but it doesn't seem to be a place to wander alone. So I'm not!

Kuata island is about 1.5 hours on a boat from Nadi, and there are a few activities there. I visited a village and the local school, where the kids are fascinated with you and want to look at photos of themselves on your camera, and I went fishing out in the sea - and caught a little fish! The next morning I went snorkelling after a death boat ride - scariest boat ride in the world I thought I might die. The waves were massive and the driver(?) was trying to take us to where the sharks were! Friendly reef sharks, apparently! Then he said that we couldn't snorkel in the big waves, and took us to a calm reef around the corner, where I was terrified and it took me about 15 mins to jump in the water. It was really cool but I was very scared.

After that I spent the rest of my time on the island reading my 7th book of the trip, lying in a hammock. Watched the boat bring in more people and saw Jenna and Dave off my trek again! Was great to see them as I was shortly going to become insane from doing nothing. I felt like I was in rehab, with the served meals and lack of people, and wanted to say IT'S OK!! I'LL STOP TAKING THE DRUGS!!! luckily left before I went completely insane! Now I'm chilling out again but in a nice hotel where there's a computer!! and people!
